"Riffs, Roots, and Rhythms: Jazz,
Jazz, Jazz"
Jazz themed art exhibit includes more than
60 artworks by area artists and features work by Seattle
artist and musician, Chuck Smart and Austin artist, Robert Hurst. It also includes several
portraits and historical photographs of Eddie Durham. The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular Activity Center Hours

Eddie Durham among other Basie musicians.

- Swing, Jazz and Blues -- Three area bands and NY's Michael Powers "Frequency Band. " Jazz history aficionado, Dave Oliphant,
will talk about the enduring legacy of Eddie
Durham and co- MC the event with Marsha Durham. Edwina Handy, great granddaughter of Blues legend, W.C. Handy will introduce Michael Powers -- a 2005 Handy Award nominee.

Station." Eddie Durham postcards and postage stamps will
be available for purchase.
Raffle and Silent Auction – The Sam
Ash Music Company has had several specially crafted guitars
made to commemorate Eddie Durham in this Centennial year.
They have donated one of these guitars, worth more than $1000, to this year's Eddie Durham Musical Tribute. This guitar
will be raffled off as part of the on-going fundraising towards
the creation of a permanent Eddie Durham Museum here in San
Marcos. Numerous other exciting raffle and silent auction
items will also be available at the Musical Tribute.
